Arenaways is a partnership focused on developing and operating public service obligation (PSO) rail services in Italy. The company’s first passenger service is in the Piedmont region, on the Cuneo–Saluzzo–Savigliano line, which was reactivated after 12 years of inactivity and connects cities of significant economic importance. The reactivation is enhancing regional connectivity and supporting economic development by improving access to hospitals, universities and key economic centres.

Since September 2026, Arenaways also operates the Chiasso–Milan line and its alternative route, Domodossola–Milan. Overall, Arenaways’ services cover approximately 104 km, strengthening the regional rail network, while the company continues to pursue additional rail opportunities across Italy.

Serena is developing the project alongside Renfe, Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie (GCF), Caronte and Arenaways, all established players in the railway sector. Together, the partners combine complementary capabilities, resources and sector expertise to maximise the potential of the asset.

The project reinforces Serena’s commitment to developing sustainable infrastructure, with rail playing a critical role in the transition towards more sustainable transport. By providing an attractive alternative to road travel, the passenger services are expected to contribute to a meaningful reduction in CO₂ emissions while improving regional mobility and connectivity.
