Aguas de Navarra

Aguas de Navarrra is the concessionaire company of the Navarra Canal First Phase Extension, which irrigates the ARGA and EGA areas. It involves the construction of an irrigation network of pipes and other hydraulic works serving 15,000 hectares through 15 municipalities, and the operation and maintenance of the infrastructure for a total contractual length of 30 years. Already constructed and under operation there are already 6,366 hectares of pressure irrigation and 481.47 hectares of gravity irrigation.

The partner of Serena Industrial Partners in the project is Agbar (Suez Group), and the objective of Aguas de Navarra is fully aligned with Serena Industrial Partners’s goals, promoting the optimization of water use and its consequent environmental impact, reducing energy consumption, and promoting inter-territorial cohesion through the economic boost of agricultural and agro-industrial activities in the region for the generation of equal opportunities in the rural world.

The modernization of traditional irrigation

In particular the project encompasses: the modernization of traditional irrigation land through the pressure achieved by the water levels available in the Navarra Canal (6,095 ha), the transformation of the dry land into irrigated land by means of pressure by gravity (4,979 ha), the transformation of the dry land into irrigated land by means of pressure achieved by pumping (438 ha), and the energy improvement for the existing pressure irrigation systems (3,763 ha).
