The hospital is a greenfield project expected to be built within 3 years. On the more than 130,000m² it will occupy, the new hospital will have 875 beds and will offer specialized medical services such as Rheumatology, Nuclear Medicine and Radiology, in addition to other facilities, such as a parking for c.3,000 vehicles and a heliport. The project constitutes an essential asset for the Portuguese infrastructure sector, generating important benefits to the population by enhancing the healthcare system in the city of Lisbon through the replacement of six obsolete medical units, and improving the level of accessibility, quality and safety of its users.
The project, which has been analyzed with positive environmental and social outcome by the European Investment Bank, will contribute to a significant CO2 emissions reduction, estimated in 27,000 t CO2/year attributed to the installation of solar panels and implementation of energy consumption reduction systems.
