Ponte 25 de Abril, is 2km long and is the longest suspension bridge in Europe, linking southern Lisbon to the region of Almada. It has a daily traffic of 142,000 vehicles. It is an integral part of the TEN-T network and holds a significant geostrategic relevance. The bridge is operated under a concession supported by an inflation-linked revenue scheme.
